Want More Money for your Practice? Create a Mini Offering in 5 Weeks!

After two years in a pandemic and already low reimbursement for services, many therapists are expressing burnout out at higher rates than ever before. The mental health field requires balance to sustain long-term careers, however, grad schools often skip business lessons and the various possibilities for therapists to create revenue. You don't have to be stuck providing direct services for the rest of your career. In this post, we are going to talk about the possibility of creating an offering in your practice, in just 5 weeks!

What is an Offering?

An offering is a product or service that you offer to your audience to help you generate income. In this case, we are going to focus on simple products that can be created and promoted with little to no active input after it is created.

Great ideas for products can be, workbooks, ebooks, PDFs, resource library, paid video series, a mini-course, or a webinar. You could even go a step further and combine a digital product like mentioned before with a 1:1 service like a mini-coaching session.

Why Create an Offering?

Creating an additional product can assist you in generating more income allowing you to reduce your 1:1 services. This also helps you save time so you can begin to put focus in other areas of interest.

This is super beneficial to clinicians because this allows you to continue working and helping others without taking on more direct work. It also opens up possibilities for you in ways that haven't been present before. This allows you to be creative in your practice, try new things, and attract new and ideal customers to your practice.

Essentially a thriving and selling product could open doors for you in the sense of reduced caseload and reduced all-nighters worried about income.

Can You Really Complete Something Like That In 5 Weeks?

The short answer to this is YUP! You likely could do it sooner than five weeks after some practice. However, I noted five weeks here to give you space and time to really work through the steps and rest. You see, typically when someone is already experiencing burnout, good ideas and creativity can be hard to come by. Five weeks is enough to marinate, brainstorm, and focus without forcing yourself too much.

The basic steps are:

  1. Address the Basics

    1. What is your niche? Do you have a platform to sell? What is your brand?

  2. Get Organized / Plan

    1. What do buyers need to know? What are their pain points? What could solve the problem?

  3. Design and Start Product

    1. Decided what kind of product?

  4. Complete Product / Market

    1. Keep it simple. Where do you intend on marketing this?

  5. Sell

    1. Where will you see this product?
